SOLO AND ENSEMBLE MUSIC
Shenandoah Trio Practice Track
1. Tango. It was full of different sounds and would make for an awesome CMP project as it has a fun backstory
ReplyDelete2. African Holy Night. It was the most difficult for myself, and required a lot of counting and timing was a big deal.
3. Chromatic scale / endurance.
4. Saxophone section! They did an awesome job in Tango
1) Tango, it would be fun to do express its style.
ReplyDelete2) Kingsland because you need to infer where to swell and taper
3) Endurance, I lost air support in the third piece
4) the Teombones were strong all night

ReplyDelete1) If you were going to do a CMP (Comprehensive Musicianship through Performance) project on one of your pieces, which one would it be and why?
I️ would do a CMP project on A Little Tango
because it has an interesting background to it and it would be fun to expand on that.
2) Which one required the most individual preparation to present last evening?
A Little Tango music requires the most individual preparation to present last evening because of its technicalities.
3) Going forward, what can you personally do to improve ensemble performance (fundamentally, expressively, or technically)?
Personally I️ can improve technically by playing with stronger and louder articulation to be heard.
4) Give a shout out to someone that you think nailed an aspect of their performance!
Shout out to the percussion for playing out during African Holy Night. Also shoutout to saxophones for playing with style during Tango.
1) What piece were you most excited to perform for an audience BEFORE the concert started last night? Why were you excited to perform this piece?- I was exited to perform festivo because it sounded really cool and was very energetic.
ReplyDelete2) Which piece do you feel was performed the most accurately AND expressively after listening to your recordings? Was it the same piece as #1? Why or why not, in your opinion??- I feel like we played all of our pieces very well.
3) If you were a newspaper reporter who was a music critic for the Star Tribune, what would be your HEADLINE (one sentence) for a newspaper article describing last night?- the woodbury bands has an excellent concert last night.
4) Would you like to give a "shout out" to anyone in any of the ensembles that performed last night? What was great about their performance?- I wanna give a shoutout to David Mueller for doing a really good job on that solo last night.

ReplyDelete1) What piece were you most excited to perform for an audience BEFORE the concert started last night? Why were you excited to perform this piece?
Polly Oliver, since it has an interesting story line and a different melody from the other pieces. It starts more promptly and has an interesting blend of multiple different instrument groups doing same and different things.
2) Which piece do you feel was performed the most accurately AND expressively after listening to your recordings? Was it the same piece as #1? Why or why not, in your opinion??
Unraveling was for sure played the most accurately. Polly Oliver sounds good, but could be more polished to be same level as Unraveling. Specifically the middle section of Polly Oliver. But Unraveling had relatively crew mistakes and went really well.
3) If you were a newspaper reporter who was a music critic for the Star Tribune, what would be your HEADLINE (one sentence) for a newspaper article describing last night's concert?
Well, considering that I am writing an article for tonight's concert in the schools newspaper "The Current Uproar" a title that I am thinking which could be fitting would be "Stories Through Music: A Woodbury Highschhol Concert". Read about the dynamic Woodbury High School Band Concert and the amazing stories conveyed through each of their songs.
4) Would you like to give a "shout out" to anyone in any of the ensembles that performed last night? What was great about their performance?
Shout out to Maya for being the true MVP, and sticking through with her commitments and musical talents to help our band.

2) Which piece do you feel was performed the most accurately AND expressively after listening to your recordings? Was it the same piece as #1? Why or why not, in your opinion??
-I think Polly was our best and most accurate. And not the same as my most excited one because I felt confident in this song.
3) If you were a newspaper reporter who was a music critic for the Star Tribune, what would be your HEADLINE (one sentence) for a newspaper article describing last night's concert?
-and then there was cake (festivo cake) lol
4) Would you like to give a "shout out" to anyone in any of the ensembles that performed last night? What was great about their performance?
-ellen for solo in symphony :))))
1. I was excited to play Unraveling because of how the tempo slowly started to speed up and also wit the volume
ReplyDelete2. Unraveling was my best song because that's the kinda style of music I like to play, loud and fast
3. Needs work, coming along
4.lucy wit the solo on unraveling
I was most excited for Polly Oliver because of the interesting story behind it.
ReplyDeleteI’m still sticking with Polly, I think the climax was really nice and I think our tempo stayed solid. And tempo was something we were struggling with through the weeks before
Symphonic played with a bang, literally because their dynamics were very loud.
Shout out to Erika for all her small clarinet solos!
1) Polly Oliver because I just love the flow and musicality of it.
ReplyDelete2) Polly Oliver, we have the most blended and centered sound, yes.
3) Yup We Are Sorry for Festivo.
4) Shou out to Aloria the flutter who killed it last night along with the rest of the concert band! Great performance guys!!

) Which piece did you FEEL the most connected to on stage during the concert? WHAT did you feel (happy, sad, excited, stressed, etc...)? Why did you feel so much when playing that piece?
ReplyDelete-I felt most connected to down a country lane because it was sad yet happy music and a fitting song for the leaving seniors
2) If the composer of one of your pieces could have been in the audience for the concert on May 14, which one would you have wanted to be there? What do you think they would say if they were?
-probably the composer for “blessed are they” because we played that piece very nice
3) Please give a shout out to someone (or a group of people) that you feel did an OUTSTANDING job at the May 14 Concert. What did you appreciate about their musicianship/playing/poise/demeanor?
