Concert Recordings from 5/16/16

Dear WHS Band Students,

CONGRATULATIONS on a really artistically satisfying and emotionally moving concert last night.  I felt that we truly gave our best to the culminating performance of the year.  I received several very positive email reflections upon your concert.  Here are quotes from a few of them:

"I wanted to extend my congratulations to everyone tonight, I thought the bands sounded great."
-Dr. Jon Brandt

"The students did a fantastic job presenting a wide range of music. It is always impressive to hear the progress that the bands make throughout the year and this year was no exception. I'm sure that you are very proud of your students hard work...The band program at WHS and the students participating are flourishing."
-Band Parent

"I wanted to congratulate all the band members tonight--from varsity to symphony to concert band. The music you produced tonight has been some of the most technically, emotionally, and musically challenging pieces I've heard Woodbury take on. How each band presented and adapted the pieces is more mature than any high school (and even some college) band I've watched. The engagement every member brought to that stage was a treat to watch and I'm excited to see that grow in the coming years. As you venture into your next endeavor, may that be the next year of high school, the beginning of college, or the beginning of adulthood, carry with you the skills music has brought you and know you have such a special experience being a member of music--and specifically this band program."
-Alyssa Olson, WHS Band Graduate 2015

Before I post the recordings, I wanted to put a few reflection questions up so we can share some of our memories from last night. Please answer the following questions to earn credit for reflecting upon last evenings concert:

1) What piece will you most remember playing from the concert? What was memorable about it?

2) What areas of technical strength did we exhibit as an ensemble last night that demonstrated the level of work put into preparing this concert (use the rubric below for specific terminology)?

3) Give one shout out to another performer (from your own ensemble OR another) that you feel did an outstanding job last evening.

4) What has been your favorite memory from band this year?

Please answer these questions in the comment section below for reflection credit.  Now, here are the recordings!
